Easy steps to run shalstab:

1. Unzip the file shalstab.zip

2. Copy shalstab.dll to the bin32 directory within arcview:
 (eg. c:\esri\Av_gis30\arcview\Bin32)

3. Copy shalstab.avx to the ext32 directory within arcview:
 (eg. c:\esri\Av_gis30\arcview\Ext32)

4. If exists shaltutorial.doc, copy the file to etc directory 
 within arcview:
 (eg. c:\esri\Av_gis30\arcview\etc)

5. Copy the redwood creek dataset (redw.asc and shallow.* files) 
 to your working directory

6. Copy the coos bay dataset (coos.asc and slides.* files) 
 to your working directory

7. Start arcview (version 3.1 or greater)

8. Go to File/extensions and check the SHALSTAB extension. Select
   your default working directory (where you want your files to reside)

9. Open "View SHALSTAB"

10. Go to File/Import data Sources, and import redw.asc for redwood
creek or coos.asc for coos bay from your working directory.
	- When propmted if you want values as integers
	  click on NO.
	- When prompted if you want to add theme to the view,
	  click YES

11. Click on View/Add Theme and add shallow.shp (mapped landslides
   theme) for redwood creek or slides.shpfor coos bay

12. Go to the SHALSTAB menus and start playing

13. Please keep in mind that the tutorial is a work in progress
and is not yet "aligned" to exactly reflect the code
